LEGAL AND PRIVACY STATEMENTS

DISCLAIMER: the opinions expressed herein are mine and mine alone. Any current or previous employers are not responsible for what I write here except for any indirect contribution that those experiences may have had in shaping my impressions and/or views. Please note, I am not a journalist or any other type of related professional, so don’t “pitch” me.

CAUTION: with respect to my articles on back pain and exercises – if you are undergoing some form of treatment at the moment, you must discuss the exercises mentioned with your practitioner BEFORE beginning, not only out of courtesy but for YOUR SAFETY. Some exercises may be inappropriate for your condition.

Note: embarking on a course of exercises that have not been examined or approved by your practitioner may make any work-related or public liability-based compensation to which you’re entitled, unrecoverable! So, cover your backside – legally.

I am sharing my experience-derived ‘tips’ in good faith, but:

  • I can’t supervise your execution of the exercises and therefore cannot accept responsibility for errors you make
  • Neither can I know the particular details of any condition/s you may have. It is your responsibility to seek appropriately qualified diagnoses and treatment – guidance and to exercise the greatest caution on your part against self-harm. Remember, SAFETY FIRST! Approach all exercise with caution and monitor the effects closely.
  • You should NOT refer ONLY to any photographs. You must read the possibly lengthy descriptions that accompany them. Vital safety information is contained in the text together with descriptions of how to press or pull in certain ways. It is not possible to understand the exercises only by looking at the photographs.
  • The most important caution is this: you must listen to what your body tells you while you’re doing the exercises; no-one else can do this for you, not even the best teacher. Very early in your practice, you must learn the essential difference between the right kind of stretch sensation and going too far. for this reason I urge you to do TOO LITTLE rather than TOO MUCH in the beginning – realising the difference too late will be painful and possibly dangerous [See also Stretch Pain Scale]
